High-quality precision castings with smooth surfaces and clear edges and corners require high-quality investment casting shells. The physical and chemical properties of the shell at a macroscopic level are determined by its internal microstructure. From the perspective of colloidal chemistry and physical chemistry, this paper provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the investment casting shell making process by analyzing the changes in the microstructure during the formation of the silica sol investment casting shell.
