The particle size of nanoparticles in silica sols ranges widely, usually from a few nanometers to tens of nanometers. The particle size of conventional silica sols is mostly between 10-50 nanometers, while the particle size of large-size silica sols exceeds 50 nanometers. Relatively speaking, the particle size of small-size silica sols is less than 10 nanometers, and some products can even reach 6-10 nanometers.
The preparation of small-size silica sols requires the use of advanced particle separation (MPF) technology, including wet method, emulsion multiphase three-phase water washing method and ultrasonic method. These technologies can separate, refine and micronize silica sols, thereby reducing the particle size to less than 1 micron, and can control the particle shape and improve the uniformity of silica sol powder.
