Application of silica sol in pulp
1. Silica sol has the characteristics of large specific surface area and strong reactivity. It can have good chemical bonding with cationic surfactants and pulp fibers, play a role in retention and filtration, improve the retention rate of fine fibers and fillers, and the dehydration performance of pulp.
2. Using small-particle silica sol as an additive to coat white paper can play the role of paper water seepage prevention.
Application of silica sol in papermaking
1. Paper reinforcement: Silica sol can be used as a paper reinforcement agent to improve the physical properties of paper, such as tensile strength and tear resistance. This is mainly because silica sol can chemically bond with the fibers in the pulp to form a more stable structure.
Effect of silica sol on the surface strength of coated paper As the amount of silica sol increases, the surface strength of paper first increases and then decreases. When the amount of silica sol is 6%, the surface strength is the largest (164 cm/s). Therefore, adding an appropriate amount of silica sol during the coating process can increase the surface strength of paper.
2. Paper surface treatment: Silica sol can be used for paper surface treatment to improve the water resistance, oil resistance and UV resistance of paper. In addition, silica sol can also increase the printability of paper and improve the printing quality.
As the amount of silica sol increases, the ink absorption of paper gradually decreases. Different printing methods have different requirements for ink absorption. According to the requirements of use, add an appropriate amount of silica sol to the coating.
3. As the amount of silica sol increases, the contact angle of the paper surface gradually decreases, the water resistance of the paper gradually decreases, and the water absorption gradually increases. Adding an appropriate amount of silica sol during the coating process can improve the water absorption of the paper.
4. Paper filler: Silica sol can be used as a filler in the manufacture of paper to improve the whiteness, opacity and smoothness of the paper. Compared with traditional fillers such as calcium carbonate and talcum powder, silica sol has better printability and higher whiteness.
5. Paper deinking: Silica sol can be used for paper deinking, effectively reducing the ink residue on the surface of the paper and improving the reusability of the paper.
