Latex paint is the main type of architectural coating. The film-forming substance of latex paint is mainly organic polymer emulsion, combined with various fillers, pigments, and additives. It has been widely used in the field of decoration of interior and exterior walls of buildings. The development of greener and more environmentally friendly coating products based on existing architectural coatings has attracted more and more attention. Silica sol is an aqueous dispersion of nano-silica with high permeability, and after drying the gel, it easily forms a network structure, has a hard coating film, strong adhesion, and good water and weather resistance. Therefore, it can be significantly used as an additive for latex paint. Improving the film hardness, scrub resistance and adhesion of traditional latex paint, and compounding it with organic polymer emulsion to replace part of the organic emulsion can reduce paint preparation costs, reduce environmental pollution and enhance paint performance.
